A live-action Cyberpunk 2077 movie is in the works. That's the report. Here's what's actually known, which isn't much yet.
## The report Deadline reported on Oct. 8 that a live-action Cyberpunk 2077 film is in development at Paramount Pictures, according to summaries from Final Weapon and GamesRadar+. Lorenzo di Bonaventura, who produced the live-action Transformers and G.I. Joe films, is producing. CD Projekt Red is co-producing. We read those summaries, not the Deadline piece itself.
## What's not known No writer, no director, no cast, no plot and no release date have been reported. Final Weapon says Paramount will likely reveal the creative team later. It also ties the news to Paramount's recent acquisition of Warner Bros. Discovery and the studio merger under Skydance. That's their framing, and we haven't verified it.
## Not the first time Live-action Cyberpunk talk goes back years, and earlier reports linked it to other studios. We're not treating this as the first attempt. We're treating it as the newest report, with Paramount named.
## The Edgerunners link CD Projekt Red co-produced the Edgerunners anime too, and its second run lands on Netflix Oct. 20. That's a new story with new characters, from Studio Trigger. The anime proved the setting works outside the game. A movie is a bigger bet. GamesRadar also notes a separate new Cyberpunk game is in development, with few details.
## The read Hype first, proof later. A producer with a big-franchise track record and the original studio in the room is a real start. A director and a script are what will tell us what kind of movie this is. Until then, it's a headline.
