Drop the Pickaxe. The Sift Opens Tuesday.

Mojang's co-op dungeon crawler sequel launches Sept. 29 on Xbox, PS5, PC, Switch and Switch 2, day one on Game Pass, and introduces Minecraft's first new dimension in more than 14 years.

Minecraft is the one game every kid in the house already plays, and Mojang knows it. The sequel to the co-op spinoff lands this week.

## The date Minecraft Dungeons II launches Tuesday, Sept. 29 on Xbox Series X|S, PC/Steam, PS5, Switch and Switch 2. It's day one on Game Pass, per Minecraft.net and Push Square's release-week roundup. Minecraft.net's meta description says Sept. 28, but the article body, Xbox Wire and Push Square all say Sept. 29. Pre-order bonuses (two hero skins, the Twisted cape and a Twisted chicken pet) end Sept. 28 at noon PT.

Mojang's pitch: "Drop the pickaxe and grab a sword, everyone!"

## The Sift The headline feature is The Sift, Minecraft's first new dimension in more than 14 years. Per Xbox Wire on Sept. 26, it comes to base Minecraft in 2027. Dungeons II gets it first. That makes the spinoff the first place anybody gets to play in The Sift.

## How it plays Up to four players, online or couch co-op. Same top-down loot-crawler setup as the first game, which is still one of the easiest ways to get a younger sibling or your kid on the sticks with you.

## The take This week is stacked: Witcher 3's remaster on Sept. 29, Ace Combat 8 on Oct. 2. Dungeons II is the one most people will actually play with someone else in the room. Putting the new dimension in the spinoff before the main game is Microsoft using a Game Pass release to hype Minecraft's 2027 update. Smart business, and a good week for couch co-op.
