Remedy dropped the Control Resonant launch trailer Sept. 17, set to The Cardigans. Konami's Silent Hill: Townfall unlocks the same Thursday, with 48-hour early access for Deluxe pre-orders starting Sept. 22. Both picked September to stay out of GTA 6's way.

Two studios that make weird, moody games looked at Nov. 19 on the calendar and both said "not us." So Thursday is crowded.

## Control Resonant Remedy put out the launch trailer on Sept. 17, per GamingTrend, cut to The Cardigans' "My Favourite Game," which is the most Remedy song choice possible. Control Resonant arrives Sept. 24 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC (Steam and Epic), per DLH. You play Dylan Faden, Jesse's brother, mastering forms of the Aberrant inside the Oldest House. It's a spin-off, not Control 2, and Remedy has been clear about that.

## Silent Hill: Townfall Konami's Silent Hill: Townfall, from No Code and Annapurna, also lands Sept. 24 on PS5 and PC, per the PlayStation Blog. Unlock is 9 a.m. PT Thursday; Digital Deluxe pre-orders get 48-hour early access from Sept. 22, per Insider Gaming. Konami showed an 18-minute gameplay trailer in August; it's the small-team, psychological end of the Silent Hill revival, not the f or 2 remake scale.

## One correction to the discourse You'll see the "three-way AAA pileup" framing floating around with Onimusha: Way of the Sword in the mix. That's stale. Capcom moved Onimusha up to Sept. 4. Thursday is a two-game day.

## Why September PC Gamer said it plainly months ago: everyone with a mid-size game is hiding from GTA 6. September became the refuge, which is why Wolverine, Control, Townfall, Witcher 3 Remastered (Sept. 29) and Minecraft Dungeons 2 (Sept. 29) are all stacked into one month. The upside for players is the best September lineup in years. The downside is that two games built to be sat with alone are launching on the same afternoon.

## The read Pick one for Thursday and save the other for the weekend. If you want strange and stylish, Remedy. If you want dread, Konami. Either way, play it before Nov. 19, because after that nothing else exists.
