Durk's Next Date Is a Bond Hearing.

Six days after the acquittal, Judge Fitzgerald pushed the Oct. 5 VICAR trial and set a Nov. 4 bond hearing at the request of counsel. It's the first real opening toward release since October 2024.

The not-guilty verdict was Sept. 12. Everyone who read the docket knew the second case was the real wall between Durk and the door. That wall moved this week.

## What happened On Friday, Sept. 18, per court reporter @youvegtMEL and HotNewHipHop, U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald issued a scheduling order delaying the VICAR racketeering and firearms trial that had been set for Oct. 5. In its place: a bond hearing on Nov. 4, 2026, "at the request of counsel." Durk has been in federal custody since October 2024.

## What's still charged The remaining counts were severed from the murder-for-hire case after a superseding indictment. They reference the 2022 shooting he was just acquitted over, plus an alleged 2019 Atlanta shooting and a 2022 Chicago murder. Durk has pleaded not guilty to all of it, and as of Sept. 18 no pretrial motions had been filed on either side.

## Why a bond hearing matters A bond hearing is not a dismissal. It is the court agreeing to hear an argument that a man acquitted by a jury on the central allegation should not sit in a cell waiting for a second trial on related facts. Brian Steel and the defense team spent the first trial dismantling the government's cooperators; the government's leverage for detention got weaker the moment that verdict came in. Nov. 4 is the first date where that math gets tested.

## The read Durk's first statement after the verdict was about freedom he didn't have yet. The system's answer, one week later, is a calendar entry. That's how it goes: the culture celebrates in a night, the courts move in six-week increments. Circle Nov. 4. It is the day this stops being a story about a verdict and starts being a story about whether he goes home.
