FF7 Revelation Is 200 GB. No Disc Holds It.

Director Naoki Hamaguchi told VGC at Tokyo Game Show that the last part of the remake trilogy lands around 200 GB, every physical copy needs a download, and the Sephiroth and Vincent DLC works like Intermission. April 8, 2027.

Two hundred gigabytes. That's the number Naoki Hamaguchi gave VGC at Tokyo Game Show for Final Fantasy 7 Revelation, the game that closes out a remake project that started in 2020. Rebirth shipped on two Blu-rays. This one won't fit on a disc at all.

## The size, in his words "It's probably going to be around 200GB of game," Hamaguchi said, adding that things are still being worked out. Every physical edition, on every platform, will need an extra download. His reasoning is a developer's reasoning: a full disc release locks the build three months out for certification. A download-only build can be fixed up to the day of release. He was careful to say that's a benefit, not a rule, and that Square Enix still wanted a physical product on shelves. "Trust me!"

The game is due April 8, 2027 on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Switch 2 and PC, the first entry in the trilogy to land on every platform at once (Final Fantasy wiki). GameSpot did the math on a stock PS5 drive and the headline wrote itself.

## The DLC Two story expansions are planned, one for Vincent and one for Sephiroth. Hamaguchi's framing: think of Intermission, the Yuffie chapter from Remake, which went deeper on one character without touching the main ending. Whether these stories sit in the past or the present, he wouldn't say. That matters, because he's promised Revelation gets a definitive ending that DLC can't spoil.

## Two demos, two jobs The press demo starts at Chapter 4 and throws you into a wide-open map with level-gated quests on purpose, to show scale. The public demo at TGS is a tight cut of an early chapter with Cid playable. Hamaguchi says some people prefer the public one; he tells them the other one is better. Both are pitches for the same argument: it's big, and he isn't worried about it.

## The Tifa detail Asked for something he hasn't said anywhere else, he paused, then gave up a small one. Rebirth's piano mini-game is back and expanded, and this time it carries information about Tifa. Play the piano, learn about Tifa. He expects PR to ask why he said it.

## Why it matters here For a single-player audience, this is the biggest RPG of spring 2027 and the end of a ten-year story. Two hundred gigs is the cost of admission. Start clearing the drive now. Physical collectors: the disc is a key, not the game. Plan the download.
