Launch day was a split-decision review cycle. Three days later, the number says the reviews were a critics' conversation.
## The estimate Per Insider Gaming on Sept. 18, Alinea Analytics estimates Marvel's Wolverine sold about 1.9 million copies on PS5 in its first three days, for roughly $130 million gross. TweakTown adds that puts it past Death Stranding 2's lifetime total and makes it Sony's biggest first-party release of 2026. Regional split: 53% U.S., 7% U.K., 5% France, 4% Canada. Every figure here is Alinea's estimate, not a Sony disclosure.

## The number inside the number About 1 million of the 1.9 million were digital pre-orders placed before launch, per Wolf's Gaming Blog. That leaves roughly 900,000 people who bought it after the 78 Metacritic and the "it's fine" discourse were fully public. That is the answer to the question we asked on launch day. Did the reception cost Insomniac sales? Not enough to notice.
## Context Insomniac's Spider-Man 2 did 2.5 million in 24 hours in 2023, so this is not that. It also isn't a friendly-neighborhood brand; Wolverine is an R-rated mutant with a smaller built-in audience, launching two months before GTA 6 sucks the oxygen out of every retail shelf. Sony had every reason to worry about a soft first week. It didn't get one. A separate claim that the $650 PS5 bundle saw sales drop 36% comes from a low-authority outlet and we're not treating it as fact.
## The read Review scores decide the conversation; the character decides the sales. Insomniac has now shipped three Marvel games that sold on the strength of the character, and Logan is the least accessible of the three. For Sony, the takeaway heading into the holiday is simple: the exclusive lineup can absorb a mixed critical week as long as the IP is right. Ghost of Yotei Complete is up next on Oct. 1.
