Yesterday it was the 200 gigs. Today it's the other end of the same problem: a game this big needs a door for people who only want the story.
## The feature In a Tokyo Game Show interview with IGN Japan (translated by Genki, picked up by VGC and Kotaku), director Naoki Hamaguchi said Revelation will, at set points in the story, ask whether you want your party raised to the recommended level for that area. Say yes and you're there. No grinding, no side content required.
## Why Rebirth feedback. Players who beelined the main story kept hitting the late bosses under-leveled and felt punished for it. Hamaguchi's answer is to make the level gate optional instead of pretending it isn't arbitrary. Kotaku's read is fair: it's a "man behind the curtain" moment, but it's an honest one.
## The pattern Square Enix has been loosening the grind for years: XP and gil toggles in the Pixel Remasters, easier difficulty settings when Remake and Rebirth hit Switch 2 and Xbox, including a mode where every hit does 9,999. Revelation won't ship that at launch, but the boost does the same job for the ending crowd. And there's a lot of game to get through: a completionist run is reportedly over 100 hours, and Hamaguchi has said it takes multiple playthroughs to see everything.
## The date April 8, 2027, PS5, Xbox, Switch 2 and PC at once, around 200 GB, physical copies need a download. The last chapter of a story that started in 1997 is being built for two audiences at the same time, and this week it told both of them what they're getting.
