The 'Free Durk' Shirt Aged Perfectly.

Ye sat with Durk's family during a cooperator's testimony in August, posed with Doodie Lo in a 'Free Durk' tee, and was one of the first names on the timeline when the not-guilty verdict dropped. Chicago loyalty, on the record.

Every rapper posted when the verdict came in. One of them had already put his body in the building.

On August 27, Ye walked into the downtown Los Angeles federal courthouse in all black and sat through OTF Jam's testimony, the prosecution's cooperating witness, next to Durk's family. Outside, he posed with Doodie Lo holding up a "Free Durk" T-shirt. Doodie Lo's caption: "Ye we love and respect you for showing up at our darkest times." Billboard covered the appearance that afternoon.

Fifteen days later a jury cleared Durk on all five counts. Ye's post on X was one line: "Lil Durk is not guilty on ALL COUNTS." It traveled because of the courthouse photo, not the caps lock.

## Why it landed different The Ye-Durk connection is real music, not a mutual follow. "Jonah" on Donda in 2021 had Durk and Vory carrying the hook about loss. Durk showed up on the Vultures title track. They shared a Cardi B record in 2022. Two Chicago men a generation apart, and the older one showed up to the younger one's worst month without a camera crew.

That's the version of Ye this audience wants to talk about, and it's worth separating from the other one. HotNewHipHop spent its Friday livestream asking whether Ye's stadium run is a redemption or a ruse, and the criticism of his last three years hasn't gone anywhere. Both things are on the record. ## What's still ahead Durk stays in custody until the October 5 racketeering trial.
