Twitch's CEO: GTA 6 Multiplayer Lands in 2027

Three days after Take-Two said GTA 6 ships single-player only, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy told Bloomberg there's 'an even bigger' bump coming 'next year when they launch multiplayer.' He says Twitch has spent 'a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans.'

Take-Two's CEO stood in front of shareholders on September 17 and said GTA 6 launches as a single-player experience with no recurrent spending. The next morning, the CEO of Twitch filled in the part Take-Two left out.

## What Clancy said Dan Clancy was talking to Bloomberg about publishers ducking GTA 6, either shipping in October or waiting until the storm passes. His warning: the storm doesn't pass. "We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators. You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer." VGC noted the obvious: it's not clear whether that's a confirmation or an educated guess. But a man who says he's been in the room with Rockstar just put a year on it.

## What Take-Two actually said At the annual meeting, Strauss Zelnick: "GTA 6 is a single-player title and is due to release this November. We will continue to support GTA Online after the Grand Theft Auto 6 release and beyond." No Online at launch, no microtransactions at launch, GTA V's Online keeps running. He never said there'd be no multiplayer for GTA 6, and the word "launch" was doing real work in every sentence.

## The precedent GTA V shipped September 17, 2013 as a single-player game. GTA Online arrived October 1, two weeks later, and became the most profitable product in the company's history. Clancy's "next year" suggests a longer gap this time, which fits Zelnick telling shareholders not to expect recurrent spending from this launch.

## Why it matters for this audience If you're a single-player head, this is the best possible version of the news: November 19 is yours. The campaign is the product, and the store shows up later. Fifty-nine days out from tonight.

## The flag Clancy isn't Rockstar. Treat "2027" as a well-sourced expectation, not a date. Rockstar hasn't said the word multiplayer once in three years of rollout.
