Druski made a sketch about football players and CTE. Antonio Brown decided it was about him. Now the internet has a beef only one side is participating in.
On Thursday, September 11, Sidetalk's *We Outside* caught Brown on the street and asked whether Druski's new skit was aimed at him. "I don't know. Could've been," AB said, then pivoted into a graphic promise to "violate" the comedian, followed by a threat to run up on him and "give him a wedgie. For all my CTE brothers." He named himself as part of a "CTE gang" and declined to name the rest of the roster. HotNewHipHop and TMZ both ran the clip.
The context AB is bringing to it
Brown has never been diagnosed with CTE publicly. He's been joking about it, and dodging it, since at least 2023, when he told people it stood for "catch the energy." Fans have been pointing at a 2016 hit and the years of erratic behavior since. So a sketch about CTE lands differently for him than for the average retired receiver, even if Druski never wrote his name.
That's the pattern with AB. He recently went at Stefon Diggs over a back tattoo with a slur attached. The comedy-adjacent threats are the brand now.
Why Druski doesn't need to answer
Druski's summer was hosting the BET Awards and fielding the takes about it. His sketches have been running hotter than his stand-up, and the ones that get people in their feelings are the ones that work. A former All-Pro threatening a comedian over a bit that never mentioned him is free promotion for the bit.
The uglier undertone is worth saying plainly: CTE is a real, degenerative disease that has taken out a generation of Black football players, and AB joking about a "CTE gang" while threatening someone over a CTE joke is the league's problem wearing a costume. The sketch was about that. The response kind of proved it.
