Thursday's JAŸ-Z 30 stop at Stade de France brought a Pharrell mini-set and a surprise 'Holy Grail' with Justin Timberlake. SoFi is next.

Jay-Z hadn't played Stade de France since 2018. Thursday night, September 10, he came back with the JAŸ-Z 30 tour and turned the Paris stop into a Magna Carta reunion. Complex (@Complex) had the setlist up Friday morning.

## The guests Pharrell got a full mini-set, not a cameo: "Excuse Me Miss," "La La La," "I Just Wanna Love U (Give It 2 Me)," "Frontin'," "Allure." Five records that cover the whole Neptunes-era Roc-A-Fella run in twelve minutes. Then, deep in the back half, Justin Timberlake walked out for "Holy Grail," the opening cut from 2013's Magna Carta Holy Grail, and stayed on to sing his own "Until the End of Time." Paris got the 2013 Legends of the Summer tour pairing for one song, thirteen years later.

Thirty-five songs. "Dead Presidents" into "Where I'm From" in a French football stadium is the kind of sequencing that tells you who the tour is actually for.

## The bigger run This is a 30-year victory lap with stadium economics. Jay did three nights at Yankee Stadium this summer, two at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last week with the Fugees, Giggs, and Idris Elba pulling up, and now Stade de France. Next is SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles. Every stop has had a different guest list built from the city's own relationships, which is how you make a greatest-hits tour feel like an event instead of a catalog play. Hit-Boy watched him do "N****s in Paris" at Yankee and told young producers to keep hustling; a beat you made at 24 can still fill a stadium at 56.
