The MiniFreak has had a sampler since 2024 and a wavetable engine since 2022. Neither one would take your files. That's over.

## What 5.0 adds Arturia's firmware 5.0, out now for the hardware and mirrored in the MiniFreak V plugin, lets you import your own samples and wavetables (Synth Anatomy, Arturia). Samples: WAV, AIFF or FLAC, converted automatically to the engine's 12-bit/32kHz format, up to six seconds each. Wavetables: mono, 24-bit, 512 points, so Pigments tables drop right in. Import is drag-and-drop through the plugin, and a panel on the left shows how much space is left. A bank of 23 new presets ships with it. Free for existing users.

## Why six seconds is enough This isn't an MPC. It's a synth with a sampler engine, and the point is to play a sound, not a loop. Six seconds at 32kHz is a vocal chop, a kick, a horn stab, a snippet of a record you want to granulate and smear across a pad. Feed it, then run it through the MiniFreak's filter, the two mod-heavy engines per voice and the arp/sequencer. The 12-bit conversion is a feature for this audience; it's the grit half the plugins on the market are trying to fake.

## The four-year wait MiniFreak 2.0 brought wavetables in 2022. Update 3.0 added the sampler and granular engines in 2024. Both were locked to factory content. Synth Anatomy's reaction was one word, "finally," and the comments moved straight to asking when PolyBrute 12 gets the same treatment.
