First official images of the AJ8 'Knicks' (IX8479-010) surfaced Sept. 18: black suede, orange-and-blue contrast, a half-orange midsole and a blue Jordan face box. Expected Dec. 24 at $215. The leaker renders had it wrong.

The Knicks won the whole thing this year. Jordan Brand's answer arrives on Christmas Eve, on the one retro silhouette Jordan wore against them in the '93 Eastern Conference Finals. That is not an accident.

## What surfaced On Sept. 18, Sneaker News, with images via sneakermarket.ro, published the first official look at the Air Jordan 8 "Knicks," style code IX8479-010. Full black suede upper. Knicks orange and blue split across the upper and mudguard. A midsole that runs roughly half orange for contrast. Shipping in a special blue version of the classic Jordan "face" box. Expected release: Dec. 24, 2026. Price: $215 in Sneaker News' copy; their Where-to-Buy widget lists $210, so expect one of those to get corrected. Nike SNKRS shows it as Coming Soon. Sneaker Bar Detroit confirmed the same day.

## The mock-ups were wrong This shoe leaked as a rumor in December 2025, nine months before a single photo existed, and the leaker community filled the gap with renders. Most of them showed a mostly black midsole. The real pair puts orange across half of it, and Sneaker News says so out loud: the mock-ups set expectations the product didn't match. File that under how sneaker news works now. A style code and a nickname become a Photoshop, the Photoshop becomes the "leak," and the shoe gets judged against a picture Nike never made.

## Why the 8 The 8 is the underrated one in the 1-through-17 run: the straps, the chenille tongue logo, the '93 three-peat shoe. Jordan Brand doesn't retro it often, and it almost never gets a team-tribute colorway for a team MJ spent a career tormenting. Dropping it the year New York finally wins its first title in over 50 years, in the Garden's colors, on Dec. 24, is the brand reading the room. It sits alongside the AJ10 "Knicks" and AJ2 "Knicks" already on the 2027 calendar. New York is getting a full run.
