AJ9 'Charcoal' Fall 2027

An OG 1994 colorway that's been retroed exactly once, in 2010, is reported for a general release next fall at $215 with a shape closer to the original. Leak via Sneaker Files and @zSneakerHeadz.

Of the four 1994 Air Jordan 9 colorways, the "Charcoal" is the one that got left behind. White/Black-True Red has been back four times. Powder Blue and Olive got their laps. Charcoal came back once, on Sept. 4, 2010, and hasn't been seen at retail since. That's about to change, reportedly.

## What's reported Sneaker Files and @zSneakerHeadz put it out Sept. 14; Sneaker Bar Detroit and House of Heat followed within the day. Black/Varsity Red-Dark Charcoal. Black nubuck upper, charcoal on the mudguard, collar and medial side, red on the tongue branding, liner, heel pulls, the "23" and the globe logo, glossy black midsole. General release, $215, fall 2027, expected at SNKRS, Foot Locker, Finish Line, Hibbett and Shiekh. Sneaker Files says the shape is being brought closer to the 1994 mold, which is the whole conversation on 9 retros and the reason a lot of people passed on the 2010 pair.

## Why the 9 is having a moment The 9 is the shoe MJ never played an NBA game in, released while he was swinging at Double-A pitching, and for two decades that made it the retro Jordan Brand treated as optional. Then the OG "Space Jam" 9 got a Tune Squad box for this Saturday, a "Gym Red" is on the 2027 calendar for May, and now the Charcoal. Three real 9 releases in a twelve-month window hasn't happened since the 2010 run that gave us this exact shoe.

## The 2010 tax If you want the Charcoal before fall 2027, the 2010 pair (302370-005) runs on the resale market with the shape issues intact and fifteen-year-old midsoles. Wait. If Sneaker Files is right about the mold, the 2027 pair will be the first time this colorway looks like the shoe on the 1994 poster.
