Dallas Came for Jury Selection. It Got a Continuance.

Judge Chika Anyiam pushed Yella Beezy's capital murder trial Monday morning after both sides said they need Kewon White's trial transcript. FOX 4 says a month or two, minimum.

Dallas showed up Monday morning for jury selection. It got a scheduling conference instead. Yella Beezy's capital murder trial over the 2020 killing of Mo3 is off the calendar again, and this time nobody in the room fought it.

## What happened in the courtroom Per KERA's Dylan Duke, who was in the Frank Crowley Courts Building for the morning hearing, Judge Chika Anyiam granted a defense motion for continuance before a single juror was seated. Beezy's lawyers made two arguments: they need the full transcript of Kewon White's trial, the one that ended September 4 with a capital murder conviction and life without parole, and an expert witness they're relying on isn't available in the next two weeks. Prosecutor Tommy Adams didn't push back. He told the court he wants the transcript too and needs time to get his own witnesses on the schedule.

His line, per KERA: "We do see that there is a legitimate reason and need for both sides to have it." He added the transcript matters "moreso [for] the defense to make sure the defendant receives a fair trial."

## How long is the wait No new date. FOX 4 (@FOX4) puts the math at "at least another month or two": the court reporter needs roughly 30 days to produce White's transcript, and the defense asked for two more weeks to read it. Both sides also have federal witnesses to coordinate. Judge Anyiam sent the lawyers to the court coordinator to find a start date, which is the same instruction she gave in January when the February setting fell apart over 16 terabytes of discovery, and again when the summer setting slid after the death of Beezy's mother.

## Why the transcript is the whole case We wrote Sunday that this trial would rise or fall on a single word in the indictment: hired. Prosecutors say Markies Conway paid White $40,000 to ambush Melvin Noble on I-35 in November 2020. White, sitting on a life sentence, has publicly insisted Beezy never paid him. That makes the convicted shooter the most useful witness the defense has, and every word he said or didn't say under oath in his own trial is now evidence Beezy's team wants line by line before they pick a jury. HotNewHipHop reported the ten-day turnaround request last week; Monday it became a two-month one.

## The bigger picture for the culture Three days ago Lil Durk walked on a federal murder-for-hire case because the government couldn't turn a shooter into a payment. Dallas prosecutors watched that verdict too. Taking the delay instead of fighting it reads like a state that wants its file airtight rather than fast. Beezy, out on bond since 2025, stays home a while longer. Mo3's family, six years in, waits again. Conway has pleaded not guilty. Capital murder in Texas carries life or the death penalty; the state has not said which it will seek. A third defendant, Devin Brown, is also charged.
