Beerus Is Back In October.

Toei's rebuilt Beerus saga has a month and a 'Super Surge' trailer with fresh cuts and restructured arcs. The God of Destruction returns for the generation that grew up on Z.

TL;DR

Toei Animation confirmed on September 3 that Dragon Ball Super: Beerus premieres in October, and put out a new "Super Surge" trailer with fresh cuts and reconstructed narrative arcs. It's a rebuild of the Beerus saga — the God of Destruction, Super Saiyan God, the story that restarted Dragon Ball in 2013.

What's new

The month and the footage. The trailer shows new animation, not recycled Super frames, and the arcs are restructured rather than re-aired. Toei hasn't said exactly how far the story runs, but the title tells you the center of it.

Why we're covering it

Dragon Ball is the one anime that everybody in our lane watched, whether they'd call themselves an anime fan or not. Toonami after school. Z on the block. Goku on a T-shirt at every cookout. The 25–45 audience doesn't need it explained, and Beerus is the best villain the modern series produced — a cat god who'll erase your planet because the pudding wasn't good.

It's also the first big Dragon Ball TV project since Akira Toriyama passed in 2024, which gives it weight beyond the fan service.

October is loaded — Edgerunners 2 on the 20th, Apothecary Diaries, Black Clover — and Dragon Ball is still going to pull the biggest general audience of any of them. Keep an eye on the exact date; Toei tends to confirm it two or three weeks out.
