N.W.A got Straight Outta Compton. B.G. thinks the Hot Boys deserve the same treatment, and Juvenile is ready to start taking meetings.
## The pitch Complex picked it up Sept. 28 from the STILL400 podcast, the show Juvenile hosts with Mannie Fresh. B.G. was the guest. Around the 55-minute mark he floated a Hot Boys film and called it a potential blockbuster.
Juvenile went further and named names: Warner Bros., Lionsgate, Universal. His point was that every member has a story. "All of us done been through some s**t," as he put it. Then he pushed the format question. A two-hour film can't hold four lives like these, so maybe it should be a miniseries.
They also drew a line. Both said no AI writing the script.
## Why the story sells itself Think about the raw material. Four young rappers from New Orleans, grouped at Cash Money in 1997, three albums, Guerrilla Warfare going platinum in 1999 with Mannie Fresh building the sound of the South under them. Then it came apart: B.G.'s federal time, Turk's prison stint, Juvenile walking over money, and Wayne becoming the biggest rapper in the world and staying tied up with Birdman in court for years.
It's the same arc as the N.W.A movie: the rise, the label politics, who got paid and who didn't. That last part is why this matters beyond nostalgia. The Hot Boys helped build the Cash Money empire and spent years fighting over what they were owed. We broke that down in how No Limit and Cash Money industrialized Southern rap.
## Where things stand This is a pitch, not a greenlight. No studio has announced anything. Complex did report a separate B.G. solo biopic, following his rise out of the 13th Ward, is set to start filming in New Orleans soon.
And the group is closer than it's been in years. In August, Turk posted rehearsal footage with Wayne, Juvenile, B.G. and Mannie Fresh together ahead of the Cash Money and No Limit tour. Juvenile and B.G. are on that run, which already produced moments like Boosie's Verzuz challenge to Turk.
## The take Juvenile is right about the format. A Hot Boys miniseries, with each member getting his own episodes, beats a two-hour movie that has to cut Turk's story in half. Whoever buys it: cast New Orleans, shoot in New Orleans, and put all four names on the credits and the paychecks.
