Dynasty Warriors 3: Complete Edition Remastered launches October 1, 2026 on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and Steam. Koei Tecmo's page doesn't list a price, and I couldn't confirm one, so check your storefront before pre-loading.
The numbers
GamingBolt reports the PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X versions run at 4K and 60 FPS. Series S is 1080p upscaled at 60. Switch 2 is 1440p upscaled docked and 1080p handheld, both with variable 30 to 60 FPS. Producer Tomohiko Sho said the PS5 Pro uses PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for higher internal resolution and better mesh quality. Series S and Switch 2 skip Lumen global illumination and use artist-made lighting instead.
What's actually new
The Complete Edition packs the original game and Xtreme Legends. Koei Tecmo lists over 40 playable officers, modes including Musou, Free, Challenge, VS, and Camp, and offline two-player split-screen. New action tools are Evasion and Perfect Power Guard, with Normal and Classic settings so you choose how modern it feels. There's a Weapon Fusion system for building custom weapons, and Ziluan from Dynasty Warriors: Origins is playable.
Why it hits
Sho told GamingBolt the team wanted to keep the "almost unfair level of difficulty" and the silliness, and to preserve that 1-versus-1000 feeling. Good. This is a PS2-era game, and its whole identity is standing in a field with a thousand guys and living. If a remaster sands that off, it's a different game.
The split-screen is the part I like most. Couch co-op is rare now, and a Musou game with a friend beside you is the right way to play. Sho also told GamingBolt that if this does well, other older Warriors titles could get the same treatment. So sales matter.
My advice: if you played this on a PS2 in the early 2000s, get the demo first (Koei Tecmo notes one exists) and see if the Classic setting feels like your memory.
