Edgerunners 2 premieres Oct. 20 on Netflix. This week we've covered the dub cast, the crime-film pitch and the supporting bench. Here are the four people the story is built around.
## The leads Per Anime Corner, the four leads are Weak Kingsley, a veteran edgerunner living in the shadow of his former glory; D, a Snake Nation netrunner seeking revenge; Roman Carax, a young cinephile documenting the truth in Night City; and Talia Yang, a Maelström-hardened former corporate operative.
## The team Studio Trigger animates. Kai Ikarashi directs, and Anime Corner says he directed Episode 6 of the original series. Ichigo Kanno is the character designer, Masahiko Otsuka wrote the screenplay, and Bartosz Sztybor is showrunner, story writer and producer.
## What it is It's a new 10-episode standalone story set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, streaming only on Netflix. It's billed as "a raw chronicle of redemption and revenge." The release pattern isn't specified in what we read, so we can't say whether episodes arrive weekly or all at once. CD Projekt Red announced the Oct. 20 date alongside a new trailer in its press center.
## Why it matters A standalone story means you can walk in without a rewatch, but the original is the on-ramp to the world. Four leads with four different stakes is a smart setup for ten episodes.
