The biggest hip-hop story of the week is a police report. Rick Ross, 50, walked into Miami Beach Police headquarters on Thursday, Oct. 1, and left in custody.
## What he's charged with Per CBS News Miami, William Leonard Roberts II surrendered to detectives Thursday morning and was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center at 6:10 a.m. The charges: one felony count of battery by strangulation and one misdemeanor count of battery, both filed as domestic violence. The alleged incident happened Aug. 28 at his Star Island home. The woman reported it to police on Sept. 29.
## What the affidavit says The arrest affidavit, as reported by CBS Miami and HotNewHipHop, says the woman had been in a relationship with Ross for about a year and was living with him. She told police he woke her around 7:44 a.m. angry that she'd been tagged in an Instagram photo, slapped her, and later struck her in the chest, twisted the collar of her hoodie to restrict her breathing, pulled her by the ponytail into a wall and hit her in the face, splitting her lip. Police say she gave a sworn statement and timestamped photos of her injuries, and that home surveillance showed a friend arriving to pick her up and being turned away. These are allegations. Ross has pleaded not guilty.

## "I have no idea who you are" Ross appeared in Miami-Dade bond court by Zoom. His attorney, Bradley Horenstein, noted that his client is a celebrity and asked for an expedited release. Circuit Judge Mindy Glazer, per HotNewHipHop, answered: "I have no idea who you are." Bond was set at $4,000 on the felony and $1,000 on the misdemeanor. She also issued a stay-away order covering the alleged victim's home, work and social media, and ordered Ross to surrender his firearms. He bonded out before noon and said he was flying to Dubai and Paris for weekend shows. Arraignment is Oct. 22.
## What Ross says On Instagram Stories around noon: "I'm totally innocent of the fabricated allegations made against myself." Attorneys Steve Sadow and Horenstein said in a statement that Ross "is being wrongfully accused by an ex-girlfriend whose true motivations are unclear," and pointed out the report was filed a month after the alleged incident. XXL names the accuser as Jazzma Kendrick, who posted injury photos and accused Ross days earlier. Police have not publicly confirmed the woman's identity.

## The noise around it 50 Cent posted "LOL ARRESTED," because of course he did. CNN carried it nationally. For a man whose entire brand is the Boss who never loses, the image of him on a Zoom bond call being told he's nobody special is the part the culture will remember, whatever the courts decide.
## The read A felony charge is not a conviction, and Ross will get his day in court. What's already true is that the case now has a docket number, a stay-away order and an Oct. 22 date. For the women in his orbit, and for the artists who've watched Boosie, Durk and Thug learn the hard way that a filing follows you, the lesson doesn't need a verdict.
