Montero Hill hasn't put out a song since he told the world in June that he'd been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had spent months in rehab. In August his mother, Tamikia Hill, died. On Thursday, Oct. 1, he came back with a song addressed to her.

## The record "World's Greatest!" is a single with a six-minute video directed by Phillip Youmans and shot in Atlanta, per XXL. The hook is a list of hopes: "I hope your dreams work out for you / I hope your green comes out the blue / I hope you learn to love again." He repeats "I'm a champion" through the back half, and Dork notes a brief sample of the "This one is for the champions" line from "Industry Baby" near the close.

## The video It opens in a dance studio with him struggling to move, then cuts to dramatized scenes of his childhood: a younger self trying on heeled boots, falling asleep in church, taking candy from a corner store. Per Rolling Stone, the kid eventually joins him in the studio and pushes him to mirror the choreography. The final sequence is him alone, moving freely, before a voicemail from his mother plays and the screen reads "Love u forever mommy."

## What he said He announced the song on Sept. 30 by posting the voicemail, in which she tells him to keep his head up and walk by faith. "'Walk by faith, not by sight' was my mom's favorite phrase to say," he wrote. "As I move through life it resonates with me more & more. This one's for the 'World's Greatest!'" In June he'd told fans he had a therapist and a psychiatrist and was "creating freely, and there's less fear in my heart."

## The read This is the opposite of the "Industry Baby" rollout. No stunt, no feud, no bait. A Black kid from Lithia Springs who spent two years being the internet's favorite argument made a song about his mother and let a voicemail finish it. The culture is quick to hand out champion status and quicker to take it back. He took the word for himself here.
