Three days after Naughty Dog said it had new Last of Us projects in the early stages, the other franchise came back from the dead.
## The report MP1st reports Naughty Dog is working on a new Uncharted game, and VGC says it "can partially corroborate via our own sources." Per MP1st, Uncharted 5 is the studio's next release after Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, which doesn't arrive until 2027 at the earliest. Director: Shaun Escayag, who ran Uncharted: The Lost Legacy, left to lead Crystal Dynamics' Marvel's Avengers, and came back. Nate is in it "in some form," though MP1st couldn't confirm whether as lead or supporting.
## The Cassie theory Uncharted 4 ends with Nate and Elena's teenage daughter, Cassie, finding the relics and Nate deciding to tell her the stories. VGC lays out the obvious: a Cassie-led game with her father as the older hand is the structure the ending set up. That's a theory, not a report.

## What Druckmann said before In 2023, Neil Druckmann said the studio was done: "Uncharted 4 was one of our best-selling games, and we're able to put our final brushstroke on that story and say that we're done. We're moving on." A year later a recruiter posted about building teams "for the legacy of Uncharted." Sony has not commented on this week's report. There's been no mainline Uncharted since A Thief's End in 2016 and Lost Legacy in 2017; everything since has been remasters and a movie. Lost Legacy is the Escayag résumé piece, and it's worth a rewatch for the tone he'd bring.
## The read Sony's first-party calendar has holes in it, and Naughty Dog is the studio that fills the expensive ones. A new Uncharted is the safest bet on the PlayStation shelf: a known hero, a known structure, and an audience that never stopped asking. If Escayag's Lost Legacy was the audition, a Cassie-led game is the natural handoff. File it as reported until Sony says the name.
