Last week Variety reported a new Naruto anime film was expected at NYCC. The official word is more specific: it's a TV series, and it's limited.
## What's confirmed Per the press release carried by Anime News Network, dated Sept. 28, the "NARUTO: What's Next?" special stage at New York Comic Con "will reveal new details about a New NARUTO TV Anime Limited Series." That's the entire official description. The stage runs Saturday, Oct. 10, 5 to 6 p.m. ET on the Empire Stage at the Javits Center, which is also Naruto Uzumaki's canonical birthday, and streams worldwide on the NARUTO/BORUTO official YouTube channel (6 to 7 a.m. JST Sunday in Japan). Complex has VIZ Media confirming the series exists and holding everything else for the panel. A countdown is live on the official site.
## Who's on stage Junko Takeuchi, the Japanese voice of Naruto, and Noriaki Sugiyama, Sasuke, with Yoshihiro Tominaga of Studio Pierrot, executive producer at Pierrot Films. The panel also previews Bandai's Naruto Card Game ahead of its 2027 global launch, with a promo video.
## The open question Pierrot announced a four-episode 20th-anniversary Naruto anime in March 2023, then delayed it indefinitely that August "to improve quality." Whether this limited series is that project, revived, or something new, nobody official has said. "Limited" fits a four-episode run. It also fits a lot of other things. We'll know on the 10th.
## Why this room cares No anime gets name-checked in rap more than Naruto. The Akatsuki cloak became a wardrobe, the Boruto era lost a lot of that audience, and a short, high-budget run of new Naruto, not Boruto, is the version of this franchise that generation actually wants. The Lionsgate live-action film with Destin Daniel Cretton is in casting. The animated side is where the credibility lives.
