The PS5 Pro's best trick is coming down to the console most people own.
## QSSR On Oct. 1 the PlayStation Blog announced Quick Spectral Super Resolution, a "performance tier" of the PS5 Pro's PSSR AI upscaler, written up by Sony graphics engineer Daniel Craig. It comes out of Project Amethyst, Sony's AI graphics partnership with AMD, and runs on the base PS5 through a streamlined neural network and a hand-tuned implementation, since the standard console lacks the Pro's dedicated machine-learning hardware. Sony's framing: PSSR "remains the gold standard" on Pro, and QSSR "provides some notable improvements to both image detail and image stability" on PS5. Engadget and VGC both ran it the same morning.
## First two games Marvel's Wolverine and Ghost of Yōtei were patched Oct. 1 to add QSSR as a graphics option. Insomniac's Mike Fitzgerald says it "adds more pixel-level clarity and stability" across Madripoor and Shinjuku; Sucker Punch's Jasmin Patry says it resolves fine detail "with a level of temporal stability that hasn't been possible on the PS5 console until now." Sony says the library will be offered broadly to developers.

## Yōtei's Complete Edition, same day The Complete Edition launched Oct. 1, $69.99 new or a $14.99 upgrade. VGC's review calls Most Wanted "a compelling take on the roguelike genre": you're stripped to base abilities, fight escalating waves toward a member of the Yōtei Six, and unlock characters including Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima. Echoes of Sekigahara is the story expansion, about five hours plus side content, set in a new smaller region with flashbacks to Atsu's war years, giant weapons and a three-arrow deadeye. VGC's verdict: "a vital new chapter," with the caveat "it's a shame it isn't longer." Erika Ishii, Atsu's voice, spoke to the PS Blog Friday.

## The read Sony sold the Pro on an upscaler and then gave the standard console a version of it for free, in the same month its Japan arm is making people prove playtime to buy a Pro. The message is consistent: the base PS5 is the platform through GTA 6 season, and it's getting better, not sunset. A $15 Yōtei expansion with Jin in it, running cleaner than it did Monday, is the sales pitch in one patch.
