About a month out from launch, Rockstar is talking about rooms. Per GamingBolt, Rockstar leaders told Bloomberg's Jason Schreier that Grand Theft Auto VI has "hundreds" of little interiors to explore, in a Bloomberg newsletter dated October 16. We could not open the Bloomberg piece directly, so everything below is as GamingBolt reports it.
What Rockstar said
GamingBolt names Rockstar head of publishing Jennifer Kolbe, studio co-head Aaron Garbut, and leads Phil Hooker and Rob Nelson as the people who spoke to Schreier. The "hundreds" figure is not pinned to one speaker. One example involves a gas station, where a player can enter undetected and take cash without alerting anyone. Garbut described hand-crafted rooms down to who is sitting where and what they are drinking, which GamingBolt ties to an earlier hand-crafted rooms report.
The story and the map
Schreier says the story is more inspired by Red Dead Redemption 2 than Grand Theft Auto 5, and contrasts it with GTA 5's "sour nihilism." It follows Lucia and Jason, and GamingBolt says player interactions can influence its direction. GamingBolt also repeats its earlier report that the world is about three times the size of RDR2's playable map.
The read
Interiors are where a Rockstar world either feels lived-in or feels like a backdrop. Hundreds of them is the claim; the November 19 launch is where it gets tested. Our earlier breakdown of the 30fps launch has the rest of what's known.
