Pooh Shiesty's attorney is telling a federal court her client sits in a cell about 23 hours a day without being convicted of anything.
XXL reported Oct. 16 that on Thursday, Oct. 15, his lawyer filed a motion asking the court to order the U.S. Marshals Service to address his conditions at the Rolling Plains Regional Detention Center in Haskell, Texas. HotNewHipHop ran the same claim. These are allegations in a court filing, and authorities have said the isolation is for his protection.
What the motion says
The attorney alleges he has had no disciplinary infractions at the facility and has not received an individualized, documented explanation for restrictive housing, only that it is for his own protection. The motion says his anxiety has increased and he has trouble sleeping. The legal argument is that the conditions could violate his due process rights as a pretrial detainee, per XXL.
Visitation is the other piece. His family traveled from Memphis on Aug. 27, and the visit was cut to about an hour because the facility enforces a two-hour monthly limit and his girlfriend had already used one hour that month. The motion asks for at least four hours a month, restoration of the lost time, and an end to the 23-hour isolation unless there is a documented security or disciplinary reason.

The case itself
Pooh Shiesty, his father Big30 and six other men are accused of luring Gucci Mane to a Dallas recording studio in January. Prosecutors allege the group forced Gucci, at gunpoint, to release Pooh from his 1017 Records contract, then robbed Gucci and the people with him. All defendants have pleaded not guilty. A judge denied his bond request for the third time in July, and trial is scheduled for Feb. 22, 2027, per XXL.
The read
Strip the headline of the rapper and the filing is about a pretrial detention standard: how long a person who has not been convicted can be held in near-total isolation on a "protection" rationale with no written reason. Whatever happens in the Gucci Mane case, that question will be argued on its own, and the court's answer is what to watch.
