The YSL trial is getting a documentary, and the person saying so is the judge who ran it. Per XXL, Judge Paige Whitaker said the project is for Netflix and Passion Pictures, and that it's supposed to air sometime in 2027.
What's on the record
Whitaker said it on Class E's What You Need to Know show, which aired October 13. She said she was interviewed for the film. XXL describes the project as "allegedly" set for Netflix and says it reached out to the streamer for comment. The film covers Young Thug's rise and the YSL trial, where prosecutors argued his label was a criminal street gang.
Whitaker also said she can't share more about the case until the documentary airs because she signed an exclusivity clause. So expect her on camera and quiet everywhere else until then.
What's chatter
XXL notes that Kurrco posted on X that the film runs 90 minutes and is directed by Shianne Brown. XXL has not confirmed that. Same goes for any release date. "2027" is a year, not a date.
Why it matters
That trial ran for the better part of two years and put a rap catalog on the record as evidence. Lyrics were read in court. The whole genre watched. Whatever the film does, the real question is whose voice gets the last word, the prosecutors, the defense, the judge, or Thug himself. A documentary built with the judge in the chair is a specific angle, and we haven't seen it yet.
