Psyren is on Crunchyroll, and it's an old Weekly Shonen Jump series finally getting the anime treatment. Per Final Weapon's schedule, Episode 1 aired October 5, Episode 2 on October 12, and Episode 3 lands October 19. New episodes post Mondays at 7:30 a.m. PT / 10:30 a.m. ET, streaming worldwide outside Japan and China. The first cour is 13 episodes, ending December 28. Episode 14 and a third cour are TBA.
One flag: that schedule lists Episodes 8 and 9 on November 27 and 30, which breaks the Monday pattern. Check Crunchyroll as those dates get closer.
What it is
The manga ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2008 to 2010. High schooler Ageha Yoshina finds a red phone card in a public phone booth. Days later his childhood friend Sakurako Amamiya, who had the same card, disappears. Searching for her pulls him into rumors about "Psyren," a secret organization tied to a string of disappearances.
Satelight animates it, directed by Katsumi Ono, with series composition by Shin Yoshida and character design by Akira Okuma. Opening is "Warning!!" by CLAN QUEEN. Ending is "ICARUS" by Who-ya Extended. Cast includes Rikuya Yasuda as Ageha, Mayuko Kazama as Sakurako, Shunsuke Takeuchi as Hiryu Asaga and Soma Saito as Oboro Mochizuki.
The dub
The same schedule says episodes release with English subtitles and an English dub. Anime News Network headlined an October 19 story "Crunchyroll Adds Psyren Anime's English Dub," but I couldn't load the page, so I can't confirm the dub's cast or start date. Crunchyroll's fall lineup had it as "coming soon" with no date, so treat the Monday schedule as the current word and not a locked one.
The take
Look, if you grew up on Toonami and Jump-era shonen, this one's for that crowd: a phone booth, a missing friend, a game with real consequences. A 2008 manga landing in 2026 is a sign the catalog is still being mined. Watch three episodes. If it's yours, you'll know.
