Dover Street Market Paris doesn't do quiet drops, and this one's loud before the doors open.
The drop
For one afternoon — Saturday, June 27, 2–5 PM — DSM Paris is releasing a Comme des Garçons Play x Converse Chuck Taylor done with painter Robert Nava, capped at 300 pairs, with exclusive T.R.M. merch alongside it.
Who Nava is
If you don't run in gallery circles: Robert Nava is a Brooklyn painter repped by Pace, known for spray-paint-and-grease-pencil "monsters" — sharks, angels, dragons, the bat that's all over this flyer. His canvases move at auction for six figures. Putting that hand on a roughly $100 Chuck is exactly the high-low move Comme des Garçons built its catalog on.
Why it fits the lane
The art-world-to-sneaker pipeline is one most sneaker outlets skip — they'll cover the Travis 1 and ignore a Pace painter on a Converse. The overlap between people who buy contemporary art and people who line up at DSM is bigger than either world admits. 300 pairs, in-store only, in Paris: if you're not in the 1st arrondissement Saturday, this one lives on resale by Sunday.
(Note: details here come from the in-store event flyer, not an official Comme des Garçons or Converse announcement — treat the specifics as provisional until they post.)
