The gear beat is usually about a box you save up for. This one costs nothing and lives in a tab.

## What it is YPC is a free browser sampler built by a producer who goes by Halfpast. You paste a YouTube link, it loads the audio and splits it across 16 playable pads, and you're chopping in seconds. It supports MIDI input and includes a step sequencer, so it echoes the classic Akai MPC layout that shaped hip-hop production.

## Why it hits Sampling has always been the heart of this music, but the on-ramp used to mean hardware or a full DAW. YPC drops that wall to zero. No download, no license, no fee. Anybody with a browser and an ear can flip a loop the moment inspiration lands, which is exactly when most ideas get lost.

## Not a hardware killer, a sketchpad Let's keep it honest: a browser tool isn't replacing a standalone MPC or your DAW for a finished record. What it is is a fast sketchpad, the place you catch the idea before it's gone, then bring it into the real session to build it out. Some of the best beats start as a rough chop at 2 a.m., and this makes that chop free.
