Isekai got flooded with easy power fantasies. Re:Zero is the one that made the genre hurt again, and it's back.

## The date Re:Zero starts Season 4 on August 12. It's the nearest big premiere on the August board and one of the most anticipated returns of the year, after Season 3 left the story on a heavier, higher-stakes footing.

## Why it hits different The hook is brutal: Subaru dies, then wakes back at an earlier point, carrying the memory of everything that went wrong. No clean respawn. Every loop costs him something. That single idea turns a fantasy show into a story about trauma, resolve, and paying for your choices, which is why grown viewers stuck with it long after the isekai wave crested.

## The stakes going in Season 3 dug into some of the darkest material in the series and set up threads that Season 4 has to answer. Fans have been waiting on this like a main event, and the pressure's real: this is the run that decides whether the back half of the story lands as hard as the front.
