Two decades in, the most renewable resource in rap isn't a hot single — it's 50 Cent and Rick Ross finding a new reason to go at each other. This time, the spark is a shoe.
The G6 Returns
50 Cent's Reebok G-Unit G6 comes back August 20 at $130, a straight 1:1 recreation of the 2003 white/blue-red colorway: white leather upper, grey suede toe cap, silver "G-6" lace dubrae, tri-color heel tabs and blue "G-Unit" embroidery on the heel. It's the first meaningful return for the Reebok silhouette in more than twenty years — a shoe that, per Complex, generated some $80 million at its peak when 50 became one of the first rappers to front his own sneaker line.
Ross Has Jokes
Rick Ross, naturally, couldn't let it pass. As recapped in rap-reviews' weekend roundup, Rozay posted "Costco got these now" with crying-laughing emojis, adding that "Lloyd Banks hi tops better." 50, who's been clowning Ross's album sales all summer, has never needed much encouragement to fire back.
Twenty Years Deep
The G6 originally launched alongside Get Rich or Die Tryin', sharing Reebok shelf space with Jay-Z's S. Carter line — a rivalry 50 still brags about winning. Its return, riding the current Y2K wave, is nostalgia bait done right. That it doubles as fresh ammo in the 50-vs-Ross saga is just the bonus track. (For the record: this one's a Reebok, not a Jordan.)
