MAPPA Rolls Out New JJK, Chainsaw Man and AoT Art A 15th-Anniversary Victory Lap Begins

Fresh illustrations, a Tokyo museum takeover, and a portfolio flex from anime's most talked-about studio.

Fifteen years ago MAPPA was a spinoff studio. This week it started celebrating like the center of the anime universe.

What dropped

On August 1, MAPPA revealed a wave of newly drawn illustrations tied to its upcoming 15th Anniversary Expo. The haul includes four fresh Jujutsu Kaisen pieces spanning JUJUTSU KAISEN 0, the Shibuya Incident, Hidden Inventory / Premature Death and Culling Game Part 1, two new Chainsaw Man illustrations, and a new Attack on Titan visual.

The exhibition itself, with a key visual by character designer Akiko Kudo, runs at Tokyo's YURAKUCHO MUSEUM from September 16 to December 7, 2026, split into two phases. Beyond the marquee three, it'll feature newly drawn art from Hell's Paradise, Yuri!!! on ICE, Zombie Land Saga, BANANA FISH, Kakegurui and more, each with its own merch line.

Why it matters

MAPPA has become the studio fans argue about most, praised for ambition and criticized over production conditions in equal measure. A 15th-anniversary museum show is the studio narrating its own legacy on its own terms, framing itself less as a hit factory and more as a modern anime institution with a canon worth exhibiting.

The title selection is the flex. Putting Yuri!!! on ICE and Banana Fish next to Jujutsu Kaisen and Chainsaw Man is a reminder that MAPPA's range runs from shonen tentpoles to shojo and BL touchstones. This is a portfolio statement aimed at critics who reduce the studio to two franchises.
