What's dropping
September 12, 2026. $215. Style code 305381-007. Black nubuck upper, chrome-finished hardware, grey chenille tongue branding, and the tonal cross-straps that make the 8 the 8. SNKRS plus the usual retail partners. This is a straight OG-flavored return, not a reworked reissue.
The straps are the story
No other Jordan looks like the 8. Those two furry cross-straps replaced laces as the visual signature, and for years that made it divisive — too much shoe. The "Chrome" leans all the way into the excess: blacked-out base, cold metal accents, texture everywhere. It's a shoe that only works if you commit, and this one commits.
The '93 context
The 8 is MJ's second three-peat shoe — the season he came back from the flu-game year and just kept winning. It never carried the mainstream weight of the 3 or 11, which is exactly why heads protect it. Wearing an 8 says you're past the starter pack. The "Chrome" is for that person.
The cultural read
Jordan Brand keeps testing whether the deeper cuts still move, and the 8 is the tell. A clean, all-black colorway on a maximalist silhouette is the brand betting that the culture's taste has caught up to the shoe that was always a little too far ahead. Bet's probably good.
