Some grails stay grails because the brand never brings them back. Gary Payton's Glove has been that shoe. Not after Friday.

## What dropped The Nike Air Zoom Flight 98 "The Glove" returns July 31 in its OG Black/White-University Red, style code IV6206-010, reportedly around $170. Official images and a firm date landed in July, and it drops the same weekend as the Flint 13 — a heavy retro Friday.

## Why it's a moment The Glove is a real Hall-of-Fame signature that almost never gets touched: the neoprene zip-up shroud, the carbon plate, the Zoom. It's a piece of the '90s Sonics era that a whole generation only knows from photos. First-time-retro energy is different from a re-release — this is a shoe coming back, not coming around again.

## The read Payton's whole persona was defense-first menace, and the shoe matched it — technical, aggressive, no frills. In a retro market bloated with recolored Jordans, an OG Glove is a reminder that Nike's signature vault runs deeper than Beaverton usually opens it.
