An '80s Pivot
$TARFACE landed July 31: a synth-forward, eighties-inspired project built around a new alter ego and led by the singles "GAVE U RACKS" and "AFFECTION." It's the West Coast MC's first full-length since 2025's NSFW, and easily his furthest departure from a familiar Tyga record.
The Accusation
Producer Medasin — the same artist who earlier flagged Fenix Flexin's "RUBBERZ" as an alleged AI fabrication — took to X to accuse Tyga's team of using artificial intelligence on the project. He says he ran "AFFECTION" through a friend's detection model trained on outputs from tools like Treblo, Suno and Udio, and got a "likely AI" reading tied to Treblo. He also pointed at the EMPIRE distribution tie shared with "RUBBERZ." Neither Tyga nor his team had responded as of Monday.
Why It's Complicated
This one is worth holding loosely. AI-detection models are notoriously unreliable, and heavy vocal processing on a deliberately synthetic-sounding record is exactly the kind of thing that trips them — as rap-reviews noted in its weekend roundup. Still, on an album this melodic and this far from Tyga's baseline, the discourse isn't burning out on its own. Expect the pressure to come clean to grow before he says a word.
