Rick Ross dropped Set In Stone on July 17 — 19 tracks, his first album in five years, out through Maybach Music Group under a license to Gamma. Don Toliver opens it and comes back for "Maybach Music VII," the latest chapter of the series that's been running since Ross was still building the empire.
Five years, no rush
Set In Stone follows Richer Than I Ever Been from 2021. Five years between albums for most rappers is a career risk. For Ross it reads like a man who doesn't need the release to eat — the real estate, the Wingstop stores, the catalog, MMG itself. When your income isn't the album, the album gets to be a choice. That's the whole thesis of Ross's second act: rap as the flex, not the paycheck.
The feature list is a rolodex
Don Toliver, T.I., Gucci Mane, Kodak Black, Jeezy, French Montana, Yung Miami, BigXthaPlug, Rich The Kid, The-Dream, and more.
