Alongside it came the release window: Fall 2026, exclusively on Netflix. No exact date inside that window yet, but the marketing engine is fully on now, not teasing.
## A standalone story Here's the key part: Season 2 is not a continuation. It's a fully standalone 10-episode arc with a new cast and no connection to David Martinez or the first season's events. The four leads are Roman Carax, a young cinephile documenting life in Night City; Talia Yang, a corpo-raised woman pulled toward crime; D, a Snake Nation netrunner chasing revenge for his murdered clan; and Weak "King" Kingsley, a veteran edgerunner living in the shadow of who he used to be.
## Why it works The first Edgerunners hit because it was a self-contained tragedy — you knew how it would probably end, and it wrecked you anyway. Going standalone again means TRIGGER isn't trying to milk a sequel; they're telling a new story in the same brutal city. Same neon, same rules, new people to get attached to before Night City does what Night City does.
