In Shonen Jump, an ending is rarely the end. It's a coffee break.
What dropped
Shueisha's Jump GIGA Summer 2026 issue hits shelves in Japan on August 17, and its lineup includes returns from some familiar names. Food Wars: Shokugeki no Soma creators Yuto Tsukuda and Shun Saeki deliver a new one-shot titled 'Futari Dake no Quiz-bu,' while We Never Learn: Bokuben creator Taishi Tsutsui offers 'Kanojo no Melting Outdoors.' Both are four-page romantic-comedy stories.
Tsutsui already has an active Weekly Shonen Jump series this summer as artist on the comedy Animal Signal, while the Food Wars duo's return is a bigger comeback after their 2023 follow-up Tenmaku Cinema was cancelled within six months.

Why it matters
This is the other side of the 2026 turnover story. As long-running series close, Jump's ecosystem keeps recycling its proven talent through GIGA and one-shots, giving creators low-stakes swings after a cancellation or a natural finale. It's a structural feature, not a fluke: the magazine treats a failed serialization as a pause, not a verdict.
The read
The Food Wars team's return matters most. Their Tenmaku Cinema flop could have been a career dead end elsewhere; in Jump's system it's just a setback before another try. That safety net is a big reason Japan's biggest manga engine keeps its top artists in the building instead of losing them.
The move
No English release is confirmed yet, so watch Shueisha's official channels. If either one-shot pops, expect fan translations and a serialization tease to follow fast.
