Cyberpunk 2077 refuses to stay in its own game. This time it's showing up in Apex Legends. Starting July 14, CD Projekt Red and Respawn are running a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners crossover that drops Edgerunners characters into Apex on a redesigned nighttime version of the E-District map.
It's a reach play, and a smart one. Apex moves millions of players, and Night City's neon-soaked look translates clean to a battle-royale map after dark. Two big audiences, one event, and the anime that turned a rocky game launch into a comeback story gets pushed in front of a whole new crowd.
The bigger run
This lands the same stretch Cyberpunk 2077 crossed 40 million copies sold — a wild number for a game that launched in 2020 to a firestorm. The turnaround is one of the great redemption arcs in gaming: patched, expanded, animated into a hit, and now healthy enough to be the guest star in somebody else's game instead of fighting for its own life.
Why the host runs this beat
Cyberpunk always gets a slot here — that's a standing rule, and this is the game-side version of it. The single-player heart of 2077 is still the main event for this lane, but crossovers like this keep the world alive between big releases and remind everybody the sequel is still cooking.
If you've never touched Night City, an Apex event is a low-stakes way in. If you have, it's a reason to reinstall.
