Anime leads with the biggest, nearest moment on the board, and it doesn't get bigger or nearer than this: Bleach is ending.

## The date Bleach: Thousand-Year Blood War – The Calamity, the fourth and final cour, premieres July 25 — that's this week. It streams on Hulu in the US and Disney+ internationally, dropping at 7:30 AM PT the same day it airs at 11 PM in Japan. VIZ and Fathom even ran the first three episodes in US theaters back in late June to set it up. After a decade-plus wait and four years of this TYBW arc, the anime's actual conclusion is here.

## Why it's the lead Bleach is one of the pillars of the shonen 'Big Three,' and Thousand-Year Blood War has been the arc fans wanted animated their whole lives — the one the 2012 anime never reached. 'The Calamity' is the payoff to everything: the last stretch of the war against the Quincy, the final bankais, the end of Ichigo's story on screen. When a series this size lands its finale, it doesn't matter what else dropped that week — this is the story.

## What to know going in It's produced by Pierrot Films, directed by Tomohisa Taguchi, with Shiro Sagisu back on music — the crew that made this reboot feel like an upgrade instead of a retread.
