The first Edgerunners wrecked people emotionally and sent half its audience straight back into Cyberpunk 2077. Now the follow-up finally puts a date on the board.
## A date, at last On June 24 the team behind Edgerunners announced fans get their first look at Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 on June 29. After a long stretch of "it's in production" with no footage, a hard date is the news — and it's only a couple days out.
## A new story, same world This isn't David Martinez part two. Edgerunners 2 is built as a standalone tale set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe, with CD Projekt Red and Studio Trigger back together. Kai Ikarashi directs, Ichigo Kanno is on character design, and it's running ten episodes like the first. New crew, same Night City rules: nobody gets out clean.
## The panel is where it gets real Anime Expo hosts a dedicated Edgerunners 2 panel on July 3 at the Crypto.com Arena, with director Kai Ikarashi and showrunner Bartosz Sztybor on stage. That's usually where the heavier footage and tone-setting drop, so June 29's tease is the appetizer before the main plate.
## Why Cyberpunk always makes the show Cyberpunk gets a beat here every episode because it earned it — a game that crawled back from a rough launch to become a classic, and an anime that turned new players onto it. When Night City moves, we cover it. This time it's moving on a schedule.
