At June’s Nintendo Direct, Square Enix showed a sharper, more realistic KH4 and real gameplay of Sora in a living city — and the views are pouring in.

Kingdom Hearts 4 got announced years ago and then basically vanished. At June’s Nintendo Direct, it finally did the only thing that matters: it moved. Real gameplay, on screen, no more teaser purgatory.

A new look for Sora

The headline is the art style. KH4 is going sharper and more realistic than the series has ever looked — and the Direct showed Sora actually traversing a grounded, real-world city, keyblade in hand, leaping across cars and rooftops. After a franchise built on stylized Disney worlds, seeing it lean this realistic is a genuine shift, and it’s the kind of footage that re-sells people who’d checked out during the long silence.

Years of waiting, paid off in a clip
