Award shows come and go. The BET Awards still hit different, because it's the one night the culture grades its own paper.

## Cardi runs the night Cardi B walked into the 2026 ceremony leading every nominee with six nods, and she's headlining the performance lineup on top of it. Nominations dropped May 19, with Kendrick Lamar and Mariah the Scientist right behind her at five apiece. When the person with the most nominations is also closing the show, that tells you where BET wanted the energy.

## Druski takes the mic Druski hosts for the first time, stepping in as one of the youngest hosts the show's ever handed the keys to. That's a real swing — BET's leaned on Kevin Hart and Mo'Nique-tier comics for years. Putting an internet-era comedian out front is the network betting on where the audience actually lives now.

## The legends get their flowers Lauryn Hill takes home the Living Legend Icon Award, Teyana Taylor gets Icon of the Year, and executive Sylvia Rhone — the woman who ran labels when almost nobody who looked like her did — gets the Ultimate Icon Award.
