The extraction shooter has been sci-fi and modern-military for years. Mistfall Hunter drags the loop into fallen-gods dark fantasy — melee, magic, and a run back to camp with everything you can carry.
## The game From developer Bellring Games and publisher Skystone Games, Mistfall Hunter is a third-person PvPvE extraction ARPG. You're revived by a girl named Dew to harvest Gyldenblood and mend a shattered Web of Fate, scavenging and fighting through a mist-consumed world where death strips your loot. Solo or three-player squads, six classes, weapon-swapping mid-fight, and a stated no pay-to-win design.
## The numbers The open beta during Steam Next Fest pulled nearly 430,000 players across platforms between June 14 and 22 — a real signal for a new IP in a crowded genre. Standard is $24.99, Deluxe $39.99, and it's free on Xbox Game Pass day one.
## The launch Mistfall Hunter releases July 29 on PC via Steam, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S simultaneously. Each season reshapes the map with new classes, zones and relics — the live-service tell that this is built to run, not just launch.
## The cultural close Game Pass as a front door plus a free-to-try model is how a non-franchise extraction game gets a fair shot. The genre's graveyard is deep; the beta says this one at least gets a crowd through the gate.
