Black Clover Season 2 premiered episode one at Anime Expo 2026 and set an October return — ending a five-year wait with the Final Wizard King saga.

For the shonen crowd, this is the comeback of the season. Black Clover Season 2 is set to premiere in October 2026 on Crunchyroll, and it kicked off by world-premiering episode one at Anime Expo 2026.

That's a five-year wait ending. The anime paused in 2021, and fans have been asking for it back ever since.

The wait, and the payoff

Anime Expo crowds were the first in the world to see the new premiere, alongside director Ayataka Tanemura and Gakuto Kajiwara, the voice of Asta. First reactions called it the best-looking Black Clover has ever been — which, for a series that was already known for going off in its biggest fights, is saying something.

Where the story picks up

Season 2 picks the Yuki Tabata manga adaptation right up where it left off in 2021 and pushes into the Final Wizard King saga — the endgame arc fans have been reading and waiting to see animated. Studio Pierrot is back on it, with Tanemura steering the battles.

Why it matters

Black Clover built a massive, loyal audience on pure effort — Asta's whole thing is grinding when he's got nothing handed to him, and that resonated. Bringing it back to finish the story the right way is the kind of move that rewards the people who stuck around. October's circled.
